Apple tablet rumors return

September 15, 2009

macbook_tablet1Over the past week the apple tablet rumors have crashed with the last new being that it would be released some time in mid October, but now new rumors return stronger than ever before. A post on pretty much confirms these rumors that Taiwanese suppliers will be supplying components for a tablet, these  components will start shipping in December.

The tablet PC being shipped will feature a 9.6-inch screen, finger-touch function and built in HSPDA (high speed download packet access) module, and long lasting battery pack, selling for between $799 and $999.

The current rumors, for the release date, are February but a mac event being held on October 13 sounds possible along with my personal prediction mid January, January 13th to be precise.

(Just my random guess)

Apple are likely to extend the exclusive deal they have with At&t

September 14, 2009

A report from iSuppli recently stated that they predict that Apple will extend its exclusive deal with AT&T next year.  This is prior to the reports which indicate that Apple might add new iPhone carriers in the US within a year, thus ending AT&T’s three year exclusive deal for the iPhone in the US.

China mobile to get the iPhone

September 14, 2009

Two weeks ago Apple signed a ground breaking deal with China Unicom stating that the iPhone would be available in china via china unicom.

But as it is illigal to have a mobile phone exclusive to one network in China, Apple are continuing to disscuss deals with, China’s larger carrier, China Mobile. China Mobile Chairman Wang Jianzhou confirmed that his company is disscussing contracts with Apple over the iPhone.

But if Apple were to have the iPhone available on China Mobile, they would need to modify the iPhone slightly so that China Mobile’s network would function correcly. Alternatively they could just leave the iPhone to run on the much slower 2G.

3.1 is causing crashes on iPhone 3GS’s

September 14, 2009

Recently we I have had reports that 3.1 is causing iPhone 3GS users to have there apps crash on them along with the official apple apps. When they reboot, the iPhone will just stick with the apple Logo and never turn on.

Come on Apple. Presumebly apple will release 3.1.1 to fix this bug. Well I guess it it just wouldn’t be a true Apple software update without the odd crash.

iTunes LP

September 13, 2009

iTunes LP in iTunes 9.0 as rumored cocktails.
There have been many rumors that apple will atempt to bring back the LP. Back when you went to the record store to buy your LP and then put it on and read through all the liner notes and lyrics. Now apple are bringing it all back with iTunes LP but will it really improve sales?
Leave a comment, do you think it’s the same experiance?

MMS hack for At&t still possible

September 13, 2009

In the 3.1 update the MMS and tethering hack did no longer work, although some people reported that the hacks were still working for them after the update. Aaron Krill, the man who discovered the hacks, is back again but with just the tethering hack. Bellow are the instructions on how to do it, the hack only works for At&t.

First make sure you have iTunes 8.2 or 9, your iPhone is running OS 3.1 and you have the modified version of the At&t carrier file “ATT_US.ipcc” download the file here.

You must enable IPCC updates on iTunes with these steps:

1. Make sure iTunes is closed then open up Terminal Open Terminal. Applications > Utilities > Terminal
2. Paste everything bellow into the box:

defaults write carrier-testing -bool TRUE.

1. Make sure iTunes is closed, then go to start> run> and type in the box CMD

2. Paste everything bellow in to the box, by right clicking on the box and hit enter.(shortcuts wont work):

“%Program Files%\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1

Now you must update the carrier file with these instructions:

  1. Open up iTunes and connect your iPhone.
  2. Click on your iPhone in iTunes.
  3. Windows: hold shift and click Check for Update.
MAC: hold alt/option and click Check for Update.
  4. Select the ATT_US.ipcc you downloaded earlier.
  5. Once everything looks clear reboot your iPhone.
  6. MMS should be enabled.

It is not guaranteed that this will work because At&t is well basically fiddling about with it right now.

Dev team making progress on 3.1 jailbreak.

September 12, 2009

The iPhone Dev Team has recently posted on their blog to inform iPhone the jailbreaking community that they are making progress, with this quote:

“We’re currently working on PwnageTool for 3.1, and will be sure to let you know when it’s available!”

In the 3.1 firmware update there are 2 changes that we need to address:
1. The modem firmware update, from 04.26.08 to 05.11.07, which will prevent us from unlocking via ultrasn0w
2. The firmware update, including all the new features

Ultrasn0w can only unlock iPhones running 04.26.08 modem firmware. So what PwnageTool does is allow you to update just your firmware and not your modem firmware so the ultasn0w unlock will still work; and of course jailbreaking your iPhone aswell.

I will post here as soon as pwnagetool for 3.1 is released
