MMS hack for At&t still possible

September 13, 2009

In the 3.1 update the MMS and tethering hack did no longer work, although some people reported that the hacks were still working for them after the update. Aaron Krill, the man who discovered the hacks, is back again but with just the tethering hack. Bellow are the instructions on how to do it, the hack only works for At&t.

First make sure you have iTunes 8.2 or 9, your iPhone is running OS 3.1 and you have the modified version of the At&t carrier file “ATT_US.ipcc” download the file here.

You must enable IPCC updates on iTunes with these steps:

1. Make sure iTunes is closed then open up Terminal Open Terminal. Applications > Utilities > Terminal
2. Paste everything bellow into the box:

defaults write carrier-testing -bool TRUE.

1. Make sure iTunes is closed, then go to start> run> and type in the box CMD

2. Paste everything bellow in to the box, by right clicking on the box and hit enter.(shortcuts wont work):

“%Program Files%\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1

Now you must update the carrier file with these instructions:

  1. Open up iTunes and connect your iPhone.
  2. Click on your iPhone in iTunes.
  3. Windows: hold shift and click Check for Update.
MAC: hold alt/option and click Check for Update.
  4. Select the ATT_US.ipcc you downloaded earlier.
  5. Once everything looks clear reboot your iPhone.
  6. MMS should be enabled.

It is not guaranteed that this will work because At&t is well basically fiddling about with it right now.

Dev team making progress on 3.1 jailbreak.

September 12, 2009

The iPhone Dev Team has recently posted on their blog to inform iPhone the jailbreaking community that they are making progress, with this quote:

“We’re currently working on PwnageTool for 3.1, and will be sure to let you know when it’s available!”

In the 3.1 firmware update there are 2 changes that we need to address:
1. The modem firmware update, from 04.26.08 to 05.11.07, which will prevent us from unlocking via ultrasn0w
2. The firmware update, including all the new features

Ultrasn0w can only unlock iPhones running 04.26.08 modem firmware. So what PwnageTool does is allow you to update just your firmware and not your modem firmware so the ultasn0w unlock will still work; and of course jailbreaking your iPhone aswell.

I will post here as soon as pwnagetool for 3.1 is released

iPod touch 3rd gen does have space for a camera!

September 12, 2009

Recently ifixit has performed a tear-down of a 32GB iPod touch 3G revealing that  this is space for a camera, there isn’t enough room for an iPhone-style camera, but just enough room for the camera that Apple used in the 5th generation iPod nano.

Also the wireless chip is a Broadcom BCM4329, according to Broadcom the BCM4329 supports 802.11n.

This is a amazing as even the iPhone 3GS doesn’t support 802.11n. We don’t know  if 802.11n will be supported in the ipod touch software, but the hardware is capable

802.11n is basically faster WiFi.

You can see the step by step breakdown here

iPhone 3.1 email bug fixed?

September 12, 2009

In 3.0 if you deleted an email it would still be visible if you searched for it in spotlight.
A video from whenwillapple shows that the bug has been fixed in 3.1 beta 3 but I’m running 3.1 official and the bug is still here for me.
In the iPhone live podcast someone also said that the bug wasn’t fixed but others say it’s fixed for them.
What do you think, leave a comment about your experience.

After nearly a year out of the public eye, as he underwent a liver transplant, Apple founder, or officially co-founder, Steve Jobs is back.

Stepping out onto the small stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Jobs squinted as he looked out on a packed house of reporters, analysts and Apple employees, all bathed in deep-blue light as they awaited a batch of product announcements.

New iPod Touch 3G has no camera because of cost

When I found out that the iPod Touch wouldn’t have a camera, I was baffled. The new iPod touch has no camera simply because of the cost. Apple wanted to reduce the price of the new iPod and by inputting a camera this would increase the price, but that begs the question what will apple do with all the camera’s they bought.

iPhone OS 3.1 and iTunes 9.0 update lets you arrange home screen

One of the most significant new features of iPhone OS 3.1 and iTunes 9.0 is the home screen feature. This is a one of the more useful features, and I know that many iPhone and iPod Touch users use it regularly. I’m impressed with how Apple has put this together.

New iPod Nano 5th Generation has a Camera and comes in 9 colors

Yesterday Apple announced the new iPod Nano 5th generation with a camera. Many rumors were pointing towards the iPod Touch getting a camera but unfortunately it didn’t happen.

The new iPod Nano comes in nine different colors, has a new bigger 2.2-inch screen, a very nice polished finish and is very environmentally friendly. The 8 GB is $149, and the 16 GB iPod Nano is $179.

Recorded videos can be instantly uploaded directly to YouTube; yes it can record. With both the iPhone 3GS and now the iPod Nano having video recording and uploading capabilities. Apple will take over mobile uploads on YouTube.

Unlocking iPhone 3.1

  • Unlocking iPhone 3.1 is not yet possible so if you have a 3G or a 3GS DO NOT UPDATE YOU WILL LOSE YOUR UNLOCK. The dev team recommends that if you want to jailbreak do not update yet but they recon it will soon be available.

Top grossing colum added to AppStore

September 9, 2009

On the AppStore apple has introduced a new section under the Top 25 catorgory.
This colum is called top grossing basically this means that all the apps will be ranked on how much revenue they have generated.
Many developers have called for this, reason being that thier premium apps are not having as many downloads therefore not showing in the top 25 ;even though they are generating more income than other 99 cent apps. This catergory is very useful for me as I useually spend the extra cash and get the premium app.

Yes I live in the UK and yes I’m unlocked to vodafone and no I’m nor using a 3GS to get the percentage sign in the top right, it’s actually battery info from the cydia store. Or if your using a 3GS you can turn it on by going to
Settings>general>usage and turning the battery thing i’m not sure never played with a 3GS.
